What we can help with

We can correct anything on this site that misreads the underlying government record — a recall attached to the wrong model year, a mislabeled component, a broken page, or a figure that does not match its source. Tell us the URL and what you expected to see, and we will check it against NHTSA or EPA and fix it or explain why the record reads the way it does.

What we cannot help with

We are not affiliated with NHTSA, the EPA, or any manufacturer, and we cannot act on your behalf with any of them. Specifically, we cannot book or authorize a recall repair — that is any franchised dealer for your make, and the work is free regardless of where you bought the car. We cannot tell you whether a repair was already carried out on a particular vehicle, because recall completion is recorded per VIN by the manufacturer and is not in the public data we hold. We do not hold title history, odometer records, accident history or ownership records, and we do not sell vehicle history reports.

Reporting a safety problem

If you have a safety defect to report, file it with NHTSA directly at nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem. Complaints filed there enter the public record this site is built from, and a pattern of them is what triggers an investigation. Sending it to us instead does not put it in front of a regulator.

Response times

This is a small project. We read everything, but we cannot promise a reply to every message. Data corrections are prioritized over feature requests, and anything describing a safety-relevant error on the site is looked at first.
