What We Collect

Nothing that identifies you. Verify the Vehicle has no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no contact form. We do not ask for your name, email address or location, and there is no database of visitors to leak.

The site currently runs no analytics package of any kind — no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no session recording, no first-party tracking cookies. If that changes we will update this page before the change ships, not after.

Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, request time, page requested, user agent) as an ordinary part of serving a website. These are used to keep the service running and to investigate abuse, and we do not combine them with anything else.

VIN Lookups

The VIN decoder sends the 17-character VIN you type to NHTSA's public vPIC service to be decoded. That request goes from your browser to NHTSA. We do not store the VIN, log it, or associate it with you, and there is no record of your lookups on this site. NHTSA's own handling of that request is governed by their privacy policy.

Data Sources

All vehicle data on this platform comes from official US government sources (NHTSA and the EPA). That data is public domain and describes vehicles, not people. It contains no information about you.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. We intend to serve ads through Google AdSense in the future, and this section describes what that will mean when it happens.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Ads will never appear on pages we judge unsuitable for them — error states, policy pages, and pages holding too little data to be useful. That is enforced in code by a central policy, not left to placement discretion.

Your Rights

Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on request. If advertising cookies are set on your device by Google, those are controlled through the Google and aboutads.info links above, and through your browser's own cookie settings.

Children's Privacy

This site is a reference tool for vehicle safety records and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
