These are raw counts from NHTSA records. They are not normalized by how many of these vehicles are on the road, so a model that sold in large numbers will tend to show more of everything. We do not publish a composite safety or reliability score.

    Fuel system issue

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain 2017 XF vehicles. The affected vehicles may have a cracked left hand inner sill panel. In the event of a crash involving a left hand impact, the cracked sill panel may result in the underfloor fuel lines rupturing and leaking fuel.

    Consequence

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

    Remedy

Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle's left inner sill panel. If cracks are found, Jaguar will repurchase the vehicle and supply the customer with a new vehicle, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2017. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is K458.

    Consequence

A blank instrument cluster will not show important information like vehicle speed, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Remedy

Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 19, 2017. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is H056.

How this compares

At 23 MPG combined, the 2017 Jaguar XF ranks 19th of 25 midsize cars EPA rated for 2017 — 2 MPG short of the 25 MPG median for that group.

That places it among the thirstiest vehicles in its class. If annual mileage is high, the running-cost gap against a class-average rival compounds quickly.

EPA puts annual fuel spend at about $3,300, $725 more than the $2,575 typical for the class. Over five years at 15,000 miles a year that is roughly $16,500, a $3,625 difference against a class-median vehicle.

Tailpipe CO₂ is 377 grams per mile — about 5.7 metric tons over 15,000 miles of driving.
