Elevated severity

This campaign addresses a defect NHTSA classifies as carrying elevated crash or injury risk.

What the defect is

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2023 Palisade vehicles. The brake booster diaphragm may become misaligned and cause an internal vacuum leak, which can result in a loss of power brake assist.

Why it matters

A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the brake booster as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 14, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 245.

What this page does not include

NHTSA's public recall feed does not supply an affected-population count, the manufacturer's own campaign number, owner-notification dates or a defect chronology for this campaign. Rather than estimate them, we omit them. Confirm whether a specific vehicle is affected — and whether the repair has already been done — using its VIN.
