WHEELS,ENGINE — Filed 01/01/2025

Subject: Formal Complaint – Safety Issue, Repeated Repair Failure, and Dealer Negligence (BMW X7) To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a formal complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my BMW X7 (VIN: [XXX] ), as well as repeated failure by an authorized BMW dealership (Fields BMW Winter Park, Florida) to properly diagnose and repair the vehicle. Since purchase, the vehicle has exhibited a persistent defect involving both rear tires losing air on a daily basis. This condition requires constant manual refilling and repeatedly triggers warning alerts on the vehicle dashboard. Despite bringing the vehicle to the dealership no fewer than five times for the exact same issue, the problem remains unresolved. This represents a clear failure to repair a recurring defect, and more importantly, a potential safety hazard, as tire pressure instability directly affects vehicle control and operational safety. Additionally, during a recent service visit, the vehicle was returned in worse condition than when it was delivered: The tire issue was not resolved; The tires were returned underinflated; A check engine light was activated, which was not present prior to service. This raises serious concerns regarding both the technical competence of the service provider and the adequacy of post-service quality control procedures. Separately, I previously owned a BMW X6 (VIN: [XXX] ), purchased at the same time, which also experienced service-related issues. Due to the overall pattern of poor service and lack of resolution, I have already replaced that vehicle with a Mercedes-Benz. At this stage, I have lost confidence in both the dealership and the manufacturer’s ability to ensure safe and reliable operation of the vehicle. Key concerns for this complaint include: Repeated failure to repair a known defect; Ongoing safety risk related to tire pressure loss; Vehicle returned in unsafe condition after service; Lack of responsiveness and resolution f INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

UNKNOWN OR OTHER — Filed 04/01/2026

I was driving my 2025 X7 and the sunroof unexpectedly and spontaneously exploded above my head. I had left my house about 2 minutes prior, driving 40 mph on street near my home. I was in the middle lane of a 6-lane wide street, no car ahead of me and no cars to the side or behind me. Nothing hit my car at all. The glass from the sunroof shattered leaving a large hole, and glass was caught in the sun shade as I had it closed. Had the sun shade been open, I would’ve had glass explode in my face while driving, putting my life in danger. I also have 3 children in car seats who thankfully were not present during the incident. BMW will not acknowledge that this is a defect in the manufacturing or design and are essentially gaslighting me saying a rock hit my car. Again, no car ahead of me in the 100 yards I could see ahead that would suggest anything hit my car. No warnings from the car at all, just spontaneous glass explosion above my head. This is a design flaw at BMW that must be addressed before it kills someone.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE — Filed 12/15/2025

While driving under normal conditions, the Lane Keep Assist system on my 2025 BMW Alpina XB7 unexpectedly and violently jerked the steering wheel without driver input. The sudden steering intervention caused the vehicle to abruptly change direction and strike a curb, resulting in a loss-of-control event. This occurred without warning and could have resulted in a serious crash involving other vehicles, pedestrians, or roadside obstacles. Additionally, the adaptive cruise control system has repeatedly applied sudden and aggressive braking without an apparent reason or obstacle present. These abrupt braking events create a significant risk of a rear-end collision, as following vehicles are not anticipating such sudden deceleration. These issues involve advanced driver-assistance safety systems that are intended to enhance control and safety. Instead, they are operating in a manner that overrides driver input and introduces unsafe driving conditions. The servicing dealership acknowledged the issues and advised me not to use the Lane Keep Assist and cruise control features. Being instructed to disable safety systems due to unsafe behavior is unacceptable and does not resolve the underlying defect. Given the loss-of-control incident and the ongoing unpredictable braking behavior, I believe these defects present a serious safety risk to vehicle occupants and the public.

SERVICE BRAKES — Filed 08/06/2024

To:BMW of North America, LLC Customer Relations & Services P.O. Box 1227 Westwood, NJ 07675 Subject: Request for Compensation Due to Prolonged Safety Recall – 2025 BMW X7 (VIN: [XXX] ) Dear BMW Customer Relations, I am writing to formally raise my concern regarding my 2025 BMW X7, which has been subject to an open safety recall since August 2024. It has now been over 13 months without a remedy from BMW. This vehicle was leased through BMW Financial Services with the intent of being used as part of my business operations. Due to the unresolved recall and the associated safety responsibility issues, the vehicle has been restricted from use and rendered inoperable for its intended purpose. Despite this, I continue to make full lease payments, which has placed an unnecessary financial burden on my business for an asset that cannot be utilized. Given the prolonged delay and the material impact on my business, I respectfully request that BMW provide appropriate financial relief or compensation, which may include: •A credit or reimbursement for lease payments made during the period of inoperability, •The option to terminate or exchange the lease without penalty. This situation has been ongoing for well over a year, and I believe BMW has a responsibility to ensure that customers — especially those who rely on their vehicles for business purposes — are not left bearing the cost of a vehicle that cannot be safely used. I appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and look forward to a fair resolution. Sincerely, INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE — Filed 02/07/2024

I am leasing a 2025 BMW X7 vin number ([XXX]) through BMW Financial Services. The vehicle has had an active federal safety recall since approximately February 2024, and as of today, the manufacturer has not provided a remedy to address the issue. The recall is listed on the NHTSA website but remains unresolved for over 17 months, despite my attempts to obtain information and updates from both the dealership and BMW directly. I believe this is a violation of my consumer rights under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and breach of warranty, as the vehicle has a known safety defect that the manufacturer has failed to repair within a reasonable time. I am requesting assistance in: 1.Reaching a resolution with BMW to either terminate the lease without penalty, or 2.Compelling the manufacturer to provide an immediate remedy. This recall impacts the safety and use of the vehicle, and I am concerned for both my safety and the financial obligations tied to a defective product. BACK OVER PREVENTION — Filed 06/20/2025

Vehicle Information: Make: BMW Model: X7 Year: [2025] VIN: [XXX] Component/System Involved: Parking Assistance / Automatic Parking System / Sensors Summary of the Issue (Complaint): On [XXX], while using the Parking Assistance feature on my father's BMW X7 (VIN: [XXX]), the vehicle malfunctioned and caused an accident inside our home driveway. While the system was guiding the vehicle into the garage—as it has successfully done many times before—it suddenly and erratically turned the steering wheel to the right, failed to stop, and struck another parked vehicle. There were no sensor warnings, no audible beeps, and the system did not engage the brakes to avoid the collision. My father was attentive and had to manually slam on the brakes, but the impact had already occurred. We reported the incident to our local BMW dealership and BMW North America. However, the response has been extremely unsatisfactory. A BMW engineer claimed the system was “working as intended,” even though the erratic behavior and failure to stop contradict that claim. Representatives implied the system requires full attentiveness, but my father was alert and monitoring the process. No one from BMW has taken responsibility, and they have refused to assist in repairing the vehicle damage caused by their system’s failure. This incident highlights a serious safety issue with BMW’s Parking Assistance system, which can misbehave even when used correctly and attentively. It poses a danger not just to property but potentially to people. I am filing this complaint in hopes that NHTSA investigates this matter further. Incident Type: Property Damage (No injuries) Location: Private residential garage Desired Action: Investigation into BMW’s Parking Assistance system functionality and accountability from the manufacturer for the damage caused by this failure.
