I am driving a 2015 Ford Expedition that utilizes the 6R80 transmission. I am actively experiencing the severe, dangerous highway downshifting failure described in Ford's F-150 safety recall. The truck is throwing codes P0705, P0706, and P0707. My car will go into limp-mode and lose acceleration while driving, light up the wrench and stop displaying the gear and idle high and accelerate at half the speed. When I turn my car off, it will not turn back on until the engine has cooled off.

A dealer was contacted and asked the contact if another recall letter had been sent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,722.

Issue I’m having with my 2015 Ford expedition Limited, is on multiple occasions when I’m at highway speeds my vehicle downshifts and decelerates. While im driving through the city streets, my vehicle downshifts randomly and does not upshift. On these occasions I’ve had to safely pull over and turn my vehicle off and on. Doing so resolves the problem for about 10 miles, and then back to the same issue.

Driving at 58 mph with cruise on, using the cruise - button to reduce speed to 50 the vehicle drastically downshifted causing the engine to over-rev and ultimately caused catastrophic engine failure, a blown engine.

There is a loud sound coming from behind the glove box when the heater is going. This issue was recalled in 2023 but it has returned.

When accelerating from a complete stop making a left turn vehicle starting shaking and I could not accelerate. I was not on a safe road to pull out of the roadway. I had to turn the car off and back on again thankfully I was able to safely get the car home but this happened with no warning at all. This could have easily ended in an accident.

The vehicle was taken to the same dealer however, parts were still not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

I had parked the vehicle in grocery store lot. I had been shopping for 20-30 minutes when I was called to the service desk and was told to go to the parking lot. My car had rolled back across the parking lot aisle and had hit another vehicle. I verified that the car was in park. No one was in the vehicle at the time. It just slipped out of park and rolled. I called Ford Motor Company and they are not going to do anything about it, even though this is a documented problem they have had, just not on my particular year and model combination. They are the ones who suggested I file this report.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM — Filed 07/28/2023

Smelled smoke, then a small amount of dark smoke was noted to be coming from A/C vents I pulled over & turned off car The smoke stopped. I exited the car & called my husband. I opened the car hood to inspect. There was nothing suspicious. No source of the smell or smoke was identified. I re-entered the car, turned on the engine, and lots of dark smoke exuded from of A/C Vents & the engine. I turned off the engine, left the car & moved away. I called 911. A passer by went into the Post office, returned with a fire extinguisher & sprayed the engine. This seemed to temporize things for a very short time. while on the phone with 911 the car fire started and rather quickly the car became nearly totally engulfed in flames. Then the Police arrived first, followed by the Fire engine. Essentially, "everything that could burn did" (except the gas tank). Known recall (manufacturer #22S56, NHTSA #22V648

AIR BAGS — Filed 10/06/2023

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 - 65 MPH, another vehicle struck the contact's front driver's side, causing the contact's vehicle to spin. The vehicle then crashed into the side embankment wall. The air bags did not deploy. The impact caused the contact's chest to hit the steering wheel. The contact suffered a fractured sternum as well as neck and shoulder injuries. The contact's passenger suffered bruising on her neck, shoulder, and chest. The contact and her passenger were transported by ambulance to the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the tow yard but was not yet deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,300.

While driving the car on a busy street in Austin, Texas, the air conditioner stopped working. The driver and passenger (vehicle owners) noticed a burning smell. The driver pulled over and turned off the engine. Upon opening the hood, smoke was observed coming from the front passenger floorboard area. Melting hot plastic was observed dripping from under the dash. Flames were observed coming from the floorboard carpet. The driver received second degree burns to his fingertips on his right hand while inspecting the vehicle. The fire was extinguished and the car was towed to Maxwell Ford in Austin, Texas for repair. Ford Motor Company was notified of the incident. The cause of the fire is believed to be related to the air conditioner blower motor, but the cause is still unknown. The car has received routine maintenance and servicing from Ford.

MY CAR WAS LEFT IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND AC ON FOR 30 MIN DUE TO HAVING GROCERIES IN THE CAR. MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND COMPLETELY BURNED UP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND HIS WIFE NOTICED SMOKE WAS COMING FROM BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES AND BURNED TO THE FRAME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A REPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AND CALLED COOK COUNTY FORD DEALER, (LOCATED AT 1000 S HUTCHINSON AVE, ADEL, GA 31620, (229) 896-7411) TO GET INSURANCE INFORMATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AS IT WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON NOVEMBER 2, 2018 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEIR OFFICE OF COUNCIL WOULD RESPOND BACK WITHIN FIFTEEN BUSINESS DAYS TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. FRONT SEAT BACK COOLING SYSTEM (TED) IS MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN SEAT COOLING IS SELECTED, AFTER 30 MINUETS, THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEATS REACH EXTREME TEMPERATURES, RESULTING IN BURNING EVERYONE THAT TOUCHES THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEATS. I'VE MEASURE THE TEMPERATURES, AT THE TOP OF THE MAP POCKET, AT OVER 115 DEGREES, WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES WERE AT 75 DEGREES. WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE 90 DEGREES, THE FRONT SEAT BACK TEMPERATURE CAN REACH UP TO 150 DEGREES OR MORE!
