ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER — Filed 07/13/2026

A few months ago, I noticed there was a delay in the power running board on the drivers side. The passenger side running board came up but the drivers side would only come up after driving for a minute. Now, the drivers side does not come up, without assistance. The motor still moves. It be gins to come up, rising about an inch before immediately going back down, as if something is blocking it. It has been cleaned, free of debris, and lubricated and the issue continues. We got it back in manually, and turned them off for about a week, we continue to try, as we read things on the ford forums but no avail. The worst part is it seems like it doesn’t go all the way in, I tripped getting out of the car and hurt my knee because of this issue. It has been confirmed as a “known issue” with many dealers. And has been replicated. Their suggestion was to get rid of the power boards, but I paid for a vehicle with power boards and I want them to work. There was no system notification on the ford app nor on the car.

STEERING — Filed 04/30/2026

While leasing this vehicle from Hertz via Priceline out of Seattle the vehicle was always was extremely difficult to keep in is own lane. Didn't matter if you were doing 20 mph or 60 mph. This was brought to Hertz via Priceline and they have not answered back to what the issues were other than saying no one else complained about it an apparently are investigating the problem. This vehicle was picked up on April 29,2026 from SeaTac and returned on May 4,2026. Neither Priceline did nothing but gave a $25 credit and Hertz will not answer any attempts to contact them.

POWER TRAIN — Filed 07/03/2026

Driving on highway, tried to accelerate, the car was acting like it was in neutral and would not accelerate. Checked to ensure I was not. the car began decelerating and I started to pull over. As I entered the brake down lane - the car automatically switched to park jarring the car to a stop. The dashboard provided the following fault "shift system fault service required" Tried shifting to drive, neutral, reverse and each time it would shift back to park and give me the warning. Had to have the car towed. The dealership is very vague on the root cause of the issue saying i need a new transmission. I specifically asked if the root cause was the CDF drum issue but they will tell me why the failure happened. Still waiting for my car to be repaired.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM — Filed 06/10/2026

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while parked and turned off, the vehicle suddenly started independently. The contact turned off the vehicle manually. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,080.

STRUCTURE — Filed 07/06/2026

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Expedition. The contact received notification of NTHSA Campaign Number 26V368000 (Structure); however, the part needed for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while reaching to pick up a debit card, the center console cup holder chrome plating, which had peeled off and stood upright, sliced the contact's pinky finger on her right hand. The deep gash required medical attention. No further information was available. The contact associated the injury with the recall. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that the medical expenses would be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 90,691.

SERVICE BRAKES — Filed 03/20/2026

While driving the ABS system failure warning along with 2 other system warnings come on and brakes fall to the floor. My Ford expedition is experiencing the same catastrophic electronic brake booster failure as recall 25S77. The dealer updated the software and the problem continued. Its back at the dealership after happening an additional 4 time and I'm being told it $2500 to replace the electronic brake booster. My VIN is not on the recall but in experiencing the exact life-threatening system failure.

On June 10, 2026, I attempted to enter my vehicle through the driver's door. The power running board was set to the "Automatic" position but failed to deploy when the driver's door was opened. I stepped toward the vehicle expecting the running board to be extended, as it normally would be, but it was not. As a result, I lost my footing and fell. The fall caused a nondisplaced fracture of my left ring finger, which required evaluation at an urgent care facility, X-rays, treatment by a hand specialist, and immobilization in a custom splint. Surgery was considered due to concern for possible rotational deformity of the finger. The running board never deployed during the incident. There were no warning lights, warning messages, or other indications that the running board would not operate. To my knowledge, the problem had not occurred previously. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or dealer to determine the cause of the running board failure. The running board system is available for inspection upon request. I am submitting this report because the unexpected failure of the automatic running board created a fall hazard that resulted in a documented injury. I am concerned that a similar failure could cause more serious injuries to other drivers or passengers, particularly children, older adults, or anyone with mobility limitations.

Component/System Malfunction & Availability: The vehicle's Air Conditioning (A/C) system failed completely. The primary component that failed is the REAR A/C compressor/evaporator core. The vehicle and its NEW and REPLACED components are available for inspection upon request. The original damaged components are with the dealership. ​Safety Risk: The sudden and total loss of climate control occurred during extreme weather conditions. This caused an immediate and rapid rise in cabin temperature to unsafe levels, posing a severe risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heatstroke, particularly for vulnerable passengers. Furthermore, the loss of the A/C system compromised the vehicle's ability to clear window fogging and condensation, rapidly reducing visibility and creating an immediate crash hazard. ​Diagnosis & Inspection Status: The issue has been reproduced and officially confirmed by an authorized dealer/independent service center. However, the vehicle and the failed components have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. ​Prior Symptoms & Warning Signs: There were no warning lamps, error messages, or diagnostic trouble codes displayed on the dashboard prior to the failure. UNKNOWN exactly when the internal component degradation began, but the total failure occurred suddenly without prior symptoms.

I was driving on the freeway at a high rate of speed (65-70mph) and a piece of my roof rack broke off my car and flew off into the road. This could have hit a car behind us or harmed a person inside the car. Nothing hit my car to cause it to come off. I showed it to the dealer and they claimed that pieces of cars don't just fall off for no reason. They said they would file a claim for it to be covered under warranty. There was no warning prior to this happening.

ENGINE — Filed 05/16/2026

On May 16, 2026, my 2023 Ford Expedition with 6,197 miles caught fire while I was driving home from work. I smelled smoke inside the cabin, and within moments smoke began coming through the air vents. I pulled over and exited the vehicle. When I got out, I saw the engine compartment was on fire and heavy smoke was coming from under the hood. As I moved away from the vehicle, there were multiple loud pops and bangs coming from the engine area. Police and fire crews responded and extinguished the fire, but the vehicle is a total loss. This was a nearly new vehicle with very low mileage. I believe this was caused by a manufacturing defect. Ford previously settled a class‑action lawsuit involving 2021 Expeditions with engine fire issues, which suggests this problem has not been fully resolved. I am reporting this incident because it is a serious safety hazard and could have resulted in injury or death.

HOOD COWLING COMING BREAKING SEAL CAUSING BATTERY JUNCTION BOX TO GET WATER IN AND SHORT-OUT JUCTION BOX AND NOT ALLOWING THE CAR NOT TO START.

The Panoramic Sunroof spontaneous combusted traveling 75 mph on the interstate. No debris, other vehicles, or overpasses in sight. The explosion and raining glass poses a safety concern. The vehicle is currently in the shop being inspected by the manufacturer, repair shop, insurance adjusters trying to decide who is going to cover the random exploding panoramic sunroof. If government environmental can require auto start stops be put on all consumer vehicles, it seems that the regulatory safety could do something about the overhead exploding glass that is both dangerous and costly.

The instrument panel went black while driving. Unable to see MPH, Gas, Gauges, or safety alerts, warning lamps, etc. The dealership confirmed there is no recall. This is a safety issue and should not be at the expense of the consumer.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL — Filed 12/09/2025

The contact owned a 2023 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his wife was occupying the vehicle at the residence and attempting to park in the drive postion, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into the garage wall, causing damage to the garage wall, refrigerator, and storage cabinet. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle was in full throttle and failed to stop. No warning light was illuminated. During the failure, the contact's wife was the only occupant inside the vehicle. In addition, the display screen went blank. The contact's wife had not sustained an injury, and no medical attention was needed. No police report was filed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

I was driving down road about to get on [xxx] in Tucson,Az when we heard a loud boom inside my car. We pulled over to see what happen. My moon room had exploded for no reason and nothing hitting it. You could clearly see the force came from inside vs outside due to an object. As we drove down the road to take it to ford glass proceeded to fall down. We are very lucky in the only one that got a piece of glasses in my hand and not on my infant. My sunroof component has had 2 issues prior to this and I feel the glass was faulty and my car has a mal-alignment. Ford is denying any responsibility. Just bought this 2023 Ford Expedition it was used, within 1 hour of owning it, the Sunroof just shattered and pieces of glass came falling down in-between my kids. Didn't seem like anything hit the sunroof, it just shattered on it's own! took back to dealership, they don't want to take blame and told us it has to go thru our insurance! they would cover the deductible. After looking into other stories, seems like ford has fault glass installed, i read other saying the same, that their windows have just exploded and the glass just shattering without anything hitting them! Feel like this is a safety concern and ford isn't helping with! think the glass hit daughter in face giving little scratch, nothing to major luckly!

SUSPENSION — Filed 10/24/2024

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at 15 MPH, the contact heard a loud popping sound and the vehicle was pulled to the right. The front passenger’s side wheel assembly and wheel were detached. The contact stated that due to the failure, the contact's vehicle damaged two vehicles that were parked on the street. The Toyota Sienna was scratched and damaged on the driver’s side of the rim and the driver's side door and rearview mirror. In addition, the Kia Sportage was scratched and damaged to the driver’s side of the bumper and the driver’s side of the vehicle. No Police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, however, the dealer declined to diagnose the failure or to repair the vehicle. The contact was informed that due to the damage, the vehicle needed to go to a collision center. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased and maintained service appointments. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The contact stated that when the failure occurred, his wife and small children were occupants of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM — Filed 09/27/2024

Hurricane Helene inundated our parking lot on September 27 with approximately 3-4 feet of storm surge. Many vehicles (20-25) were trapped and flooded. This vehicle caught fire and was totally consumed over the course of a 5-6 hour burn. Although all vehicles in our lot were flooded, this was the only vehicle to catch fire. By reports of eyewitnesses, the fire started underwater at the front of the vehicle and proceeded to consume it entirely. It did not blow up. Also reported is that the flashers and alarm/horn were active when the fire started (same was true for most other vehicles in the lot that did not burn). This vehicle is not a Hybrid or EV, it is a stock gasoline vehicle with no modifications. The vehicle was towed away by Auto-Owners Insurance company. It is unknown if they have done any form of inspection or investigation. This was not reported to the police but the fire department made a call to extinguish the flames at 4:55 am when the water receded enough for them to access the parking lot.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL — Filed 02/09/2024

At approximately 13:12 CST on [XXX], I exited the car wash at a gas station in Rochester, MN. I drove around to the front of the gas station to park so I could go inside to replenish the car wash card. At approximately 13:13 CST, as I was turning right, pulling into the parking space near the entrance, the truck accelerated unexpectedly and collided with a cement parking pilon (sp?). I am unsure how this occurred. I believe the vehicle may have accelerated on its own. Holding my foot hard on the brake, I shifted into reverse, then backed the truck up about 2 feet from the pilon, turned off the vehicle and went outside to assess the damage. There was front end passenger side damage to the vehicle and the pilon casing was ripped and the top was pushed halfway off. Thank God that pilon was there to stop the vehicle and avoid hitting the building or pedestrians. At the time I was parking I am sure I was driving less than 5 mph, but I am unsure how fast the vehicle got to in that 15-20 foot acceleration. When the vehicle hit the pilon it was very jarring. The impact threw my glasses off my face, flung my backpack from the passenger seat to the front passenger floor, and caused my cases of soda pop and bags of groceries in the trunk area to shift forward and to rip the paper grocery bags. My right thumb and the right side of my neck were sore that evening and I had a minor headache as well. This Ford Expedition Max has approximately 35K miles on it. It is a well maintained company fleet vehicle. There were no warning lights prior. I wonder if water from the carwash got into something electrical or if there is some other defect that caused a sudden acceleration? VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL — Filed 10/03/2023

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated. As a result, the vehicle proceeded over the side curves then stalled. All the air bags deployed. No warning lights was illuminated. The contact sustained injury to his left arm that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number and advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM — Filed 09/03/2023

I crunk my 2023 Ford Expedition up yesterday so the AC would run and it wouldn’t be so hot. I pressed the break, and the start button and simply crunk it up, I then got the keys out of the vehicle so I could unlock my house. When I walked back outside My truck had rolled backwards and hit my house. The vehicle was in park. Now I have to fix my house and my truck and all of this is something that should have never happened and is extremely scary and dangerous. Thankfully I got into my house before it hit it because I may not have been so lucky considering my vehicle was to my back and could’ve easily rolled over me if it had started rolling sooner than it did.
