In July 2024 the engine blew a rod causing catastrophic engine failure causing our daughters Jeep while driving down [XXX] in San Antonio to lift off the ground from the force and leaving her no where to get to safety with no shoulder. Only being some months and 1505 miles out of warranty they denied any goodwill. This specific engine was the same motor that was involved in the Wood, et al. v. FCA US, LLC class action lawsuit. The Jeep was well maintenanced and no indication of any problems prior to the abrupt explosion under the hood while she was driving causing all fluids to immediately start pouring from the Jeep and leaving her little time to get to safety before the Jeep came to a stop and shut down. Where she was stranded was on one of the most dangerous parts of the highway on [XXX]. Now all motor mounts that we had just replaced in March of 2024 are bad, leaving to wonder if it was because a new engine was put onto compromised motor mounts in 2024. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM — Filed 09/12/2026

After making a stop at a stop light the start/stop feature turned the vehicle off. When releasing the break instead of the car restarting, the vehicle stalled and applied the parking break.

The Jeep randomly said stop/safely vehicle will turn off soon and it quit and left me stranded at 11pm. I have taken it to several shops and no one seems to know how to fix the issue.

The central Uconnect infotainment display completely failed, went black, and is entirely inoperable. Because the screen is dead, the rear backup camera fails to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse. This creates a severe safety hazard, drastically reduces rearward visibility, and places the vehicle in direct violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111 (FMVSS 111) regarding mandated rear visibility.Furthermore, this total hardware failure completely locks out access to all internal vehicle safety, climate, and driving settings that are exclusively controlled via the touchscreen. The system failed prematurely roughly one year after purchase under normal operating conditions. This issue mirrors the symptoms of major backup camera recalls issued by Stellantis for newer model years, but my 2019 VIN is currently excluded. The manufacturer has quoted over $2,000 to repair this known component defect, which consumer data shows is linked to inadequate internal thermal management and overheating design flaws. I am filing this report to urge the NHTSA to investigate and mandate an expansion of the backup camera recall to include vulnerable 2019 vehicle batches. The Uconnect screen failure occurred simultaneously with a total loss of the Engine Stop/Start (ESS) system and a complete loss of illumination on the electronic gear shifter assembly, indicating a critical cascading failure within the vehicle's low-voltage electrical distribution network

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the driver’s side side-curtain air bag deployed unexpectedly. There was no injury reported. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE — Filed 05/18/2026

While driving through a tunnel in Boston, MA, the vehicle shut off completely without warning and could not be restarted. The dashboard displayed multiple warning lights and the engine would not crank (clicking sound only). I was stranded inside an active tunnel in live traffic, requiring a Massachusetts State Police response and a tow. The dealer diagnosed a shorted starter, and during the same repair found the radiator leaking from its lower corner seam with no coolant remaining in the system (dealer repair order 316800, at 66,453 miles). An independent repair shop had documented dried coolant residue under the radiator three months earlier at 63,656 miles, indicating the leak had been developing. This vehicle also has a history of auxiliary battery failures affecting the stop/start system: the auxiliary battery failed at 22,517 miles and was replaced under warranty, and failed again at 58,094 miles. A sudden engine shutdown in a tunnel with no ability to restart is a serious safety hazard, and I am filing this complaint to document the failure. Repair invoices are available and can be uploaded.

I own a 2019 Jeep Compass with approximately 72,000 miles. For the past two years, I have experienced intermittent electrical and brake system failures that have become more frequent and severe despite multiple repair attempts. While driving, especially when turning, braking, or driving over potholes or uneven roads, the vehicle suddenly displays multiple warning lights, including ABS, traction control, brake, check engine, and service transmission warnings. At the same time, the digital speedometer changes to "--" and stops displaying vehicle speed. On one occasion, the analog speedometer also dropped unexpectedly. The most serious incident occurred after these warnings appeared while I was driving. I pulled over, shifted into Park, and attempted to turn the vehicle off, but it would not shut down for approximately 30 seconds. During that time, the brake warning light flashed continuously, indicating a possible electrical or communication failure. After restarting, some warnings cleared, but the check engine light remained on. Although the brake pedal still felt normal, I temporarily lost multiple electronic safety systems, including ABS, traction control, and the vehicle speed display. These failures occurred on a public roadway without warning, creating a significant safety risk and reducing my confidence that the vehicle will respond properly during an emergency. A diagnostic scan retrieved multiple communication-related fault codes, including U0002-00 (CAN Bus Off), U0121-00 (Lost Communication with ABS Module), U0129-00 (Lost Communication with Brake System Control Module), U1110 (Lost Vehicle Speed Message), U1120 (Lost Wheel Distance Message), U1141 (Lost Brake and Torque Message), and U12A8 (Lost Communication with Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor). The problem is intermittent, often clears after restarting, and is difficult to diagnose. Because it affects critical safety systems while the vehicle is in motion, I believe this represents a serious safety

The auto start/stop feature will fail at random when I come to a stop. My vehicle will shut off and the parking brake will turn on, leading to delays in traffic and unsafe traffic situations. I have had my battery replaced, so this has occured with new batteries and nothing wrong with my car.

The rearview backup camera on my 2019 Jeep Compass Latitude has completely failed to function, creating a severe blind-spot safety hazard during reverse maneuvers. Screen goes black, or flickers on and off, or has lines and hotspots. It is not usable at all. This failure directly compromises the safety mandates established under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111.

ABS light came on, took to mechanic, was advised he needed to order part, picked up vehicle while waiting for part to come in. While driving to work was using cruise control and put on my brakes and had no brakes, I ended up rear ending into another vehicle. Causing extensive damage to my car.

On my way to work my 2019 Jeep compass all of a sudden started flashing all these error messages while I was driving (check shifter, service transmission, service ESC, AWD warnings, check coolant, car shutting down) my car seemed to be stuck in 1st gear, and my parking brake came on. While panicking trying to get off the road, I turn left but my car is going so slow a truck comes over the hill and slams into my passenger side. I've had my car less than 2 years and it did this exact same thing a few days after I bought it , I took it back to the dealership I bought it from, but they couldn't replicate the issue, the car corrected itself and was fine until April 6 when it started again while I was driving and caused me to be in an accident. This has been very traumatic, I've never been in a automobile accident, and I feel like it's all because of my car wouldn't accelerate so I could get off the road safely

We were stopped at a traffic light, began to move when the driver instrument display went red, said coolant was high, the car stalled, and we were hit from behind by another SUV. After we were able to restart it, the display returned to normal. We waited for the police to arrive, got an accident report and now the car is at the dealer. Also, before that the radio display was acting up with lines in i like a bad television then it would shut off. The dealer says it needs a new radio (on a 4-year-old Jeep), and they want to apply updates that SHOULD fix the issue.

SERVICE BRAKES — Filed 10/01/2022

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at an unknown speed and approaching a traffic light, she depressed the brake pedal but failed to stop the vehicle, causing the vehicle to rear-end another vehicle. The driver informed before the accident, multiple warnings light were illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained back injuries but did not seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The driver was able to drive to their residence. The contact took the vehicle to a collision shop and had the exterior of the vehicle repaired and the computer was reset. The vehicle was repaired but the same day they release the vehicle, multiple warning lights were illuminated for a second time. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brakes and tires to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

- Unsure of fault as it hasn’t gotten inspected by mechanic or insurance but when start it indicates issue with steering and ESC system - Safety of self and others was severe if wasn’t controlled or in un-ideal conditions - Condition has yet to be reproduced or confirmed, sitting in mechanics lot now, not inspected yet - no messages or warnings but the steering would auto correct to left and right randomly when straight driving on the highway

2019 Jeep Compas Sport still under warrenty was involved in a head on collision with an estimated speed of 40 mph. The airbags did not inflate.I was not able to remove my child from vehicle to safety. Sprain of ligaments of cervical and thoracic spine ,Cervicalgia ,Precordial pain ,Thoracic pain. Two months have passed and i still have a problem picking up my 1 year old when Im actualy able to. The seatbealt injury sustaned has undeniably resulted in medical problems aswell as everyday hardship in my physical abilities. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms were noticably present.

2019 JEEP COMPASS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BROKEN AXLES ON VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING THROUGH SNOW. *LD CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING THROUGH SNOW ON THE HIGHWAY THE AXLES OF THE LEFT TIRES OF VEHICLE BROKE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN AND HIT A CONCRETE DIVIDER CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GRIFFIN'S HUB CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (MILWAUKEE, WI). CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT DAMAGE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE AN ACCIDENT CAUSED THE AXLES TO BREAK. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AXLES BREAKING WERE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. *DL

PARKED 2019 JEEP COMPASS IN NORMAL PARKING LOT WENT INSIDE FOR A FEW HOURS THEN HEARD POPPING NOISES FROM PARKING LOT. RAN OUTSIDE TO SEE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURST INTO FLAMES VIA THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT DAMAGING THE ENTIRE FRONT HALF OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER FLAMES PUT OUT, THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN THE HOOD OF THE CAR GOING DOWN INTO THE ENGINE THAT DAMAGED THE WINDSHIELD, BUMPER, ENGINE, LIGHT, TIRES AND DOORS. OTHER CARS AROUND MINE WERE DAMAGED AS WELL AS THE FIRE SPREAD. WAS PARKED AT HOTEL PARKING LOT FOR A FEW HOURS BEFORE CAUGHT ON FIRE.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AT HAWK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP 7911 W ROOSEVELT RD, FOREST PARK, IL 60130 ON 04/8/19 . I DROVE OFF THE LOT WITHOUT A PROPER EXPLANATION/PRESENTATION OF MY VEHICLE, NO ONE WENT OVER THE FEATURES WITH ME. WHEN I ARRIVED AT HOME, A FAMILY MEMBER POINTED OUT THAT THE LCD SCREEN QHERE THE MILEAGE IS DISPLAYED WAS NOT WORKING. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT MAY TURN ON WITH ONE OF THE BUTTON ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I'VE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE LIKE THIS. AFTER 10 -15 MINUTES OF PLAYING AROUND WITH BUTTONS I COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THE SALESPERSON SAID TO BRING IT BACK FOR AN UPDATE. ON THE WAY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP I GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS ON MY WAY BACK TO THE DEALER AND I DID NOT REALIZE HOW FAST I WAS GOING SINCE MILEAGE WAS NOT DISPLAYED. NOW, I HAVE DAMAGE ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 24HRS LATER. IT IS NOW 04/23/19 AND THE VEHICLE IS UNDER THE DEALERSHIP POSSESSION BECAUSE THE PART TO THE LCD SCREEN IS ON BACK ORDER. ACCORDING TO THE SALESPERSON, I JUST NEEDED AN UPDATE, WRONG.
