ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE — Filed 07/02/2026

On July 2nd, I was actively driving my 2015 Ram 1500 equipped with the 5.7L Hemi V8 gas engine. The vehicle is completely factory-stock with zero aftermarket electronics, wiring modifications, or accessories. While operating the truck, the dashboard instrument cluster suddenly began flickering wildly, indicating a severe voltage drop or electrical system failure. Immediately following the flickering, a catastrophic fire erupted inside the cabin, originating directly underneath the dashboard on the passenger's side. The fire department responded to extinguish the flames. The engine bay was unaffected by fluid leaks, and the fire originated strictly within the factory dashboard electrical wiring harness/modules. The vehicle is a total loss.

My electric power stear started to go in and out as I was driving. It got very hard to stear and as I was trying to turn would cone back on causing me to drive off the road into a ditch. Now dose not work at all

Confirmation or reproduction of the problem: At this time, the issue has not yet been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Investigation is pending. Vehicle or component inspection: The accident has been documented by law enforcement and insurance representatives. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but is available for inspection. Insurance evaluation is in progress. Warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms: There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms indicating an airbag or restraint system malfunction prior to the accident. No airbag warning indicators were illuminated before the crash. If applicable: UNKNOWN whether any fault codes were present prior to the accident. Description of incident: The crash occurred at night in heavy fog conditions. While traveling around a curve, the driver encountered an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane and took evasive action to avoid a collision. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused significant damage to the entire vehicle. Despite the severity of the collision, no airbags deployed. The driver sustained a serious head injury that may have been mitigated had the airbag system functioned as designed.

I was in motor vehicle accident in my 2015 ram 1500 tradesman I was traveling at 60 mph and rear ended a semi trailer that was going 5 mph and the airbags did not deploy there was not lights on the dash to indicate a issue with the airbag system the ram is in a insurance lot for inspection

The Starter of the truck seems to have "shorted" and started an electrical fire that burnt the wiring harness leading up to the battery including part of the battery cover. Drove truck on 100 mile trip. Arrived, parked. 2 days later went out to truck to drive home. Turned key, check engine light came on. Service electronic throttle control light came on. Opened hood, smelled burned smell. discovered battery cover and harnessed burned. Disconnected and removed battery. Had truck towed 100miles home. Went to mechanic who traced the burn down to the starter. He replaced the starter and showed me where the fire started. FYI I called the service manager at Berthod Ram in Glenwood Springs Colorado to ask if they would like to see the Starter, left message. THEY DID NOT REPLY.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the brake pedal was depressed due to the vehicle in front abruptly stopping with the ABS warning light illuminated. On several occasions, the brake pedal felt abnormal when depressed. On another occasion, the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated up to 30 MPH which caused the contact to rear-end another vehicle. The air bag did not deploy. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was provided. A Police report was filed with the Florida Highway Patrol and the report number was not provided to the contact. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ABS module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact was informed that no after-market parts were available. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall related to the brake booster failure however the part was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 188,635.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES — Filed 11/29/2024

About a year ago my vehicles auto traction , brake light and abs light illuminated. The warning that my vehicle gives when I turn it on and start is braking system needs serviced and electrical breaking system needs serviced. The code that shows in diagnosis is abs brake module needs replaced. My brakes have not been right. The part has been back ordered for over a year. There are no parts and my dealer and Ram answer is it’s under engineering review till January 15. The dealership answer is get one from the junk yard which they’re aren’t any. I wouldn’t feel confident driving my grand babies with used brake parts. I was in an accident today because of brake failure and thankfully I didn’t hurt anyone in the car in front of me.

I have replaced the rack and pinion on my truck 3 times so far. It keeps failing. This is unacceptable. There is obviously a problem and Ram has to address it. How is it possible only certain trucks qualify for a recall regarding the same exact thing. My truck is currently at the shop getting the rack and pinion replaced again. As they were trying to get the truck into the bay, due to the power steering not working, it was crashed into a pole. This needs to be resolved asap!

ENGINE — Filed 06/02/2024

The contact owned a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while hauling a 2018 Jayco Hummingbird at 50 MPH, the "Low Voltage Battery" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact immediately pulled over and exited the vehicle as white smoke began to emit from underneath the hood. The smoke quickly turned into flames as the contact attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. The contact used a total of three fire extinguishers in an attempt to extinguish the fire; however, the fire returned after each attempt. With the assistance of a fellow motorist, the contact managed to pour water over the entire engine which finally extinguished the fire. The authorities arrived at the scene and performed a thorough inspection of the vehicle to ensure that the fire was extinguished. A police report was filed. The contact suffered severe mental trauma as a result of the incident. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard but was later placed in the possession of the contact's insurance company. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was deemed a total loss as a result of the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Driving down the freeway Without warning vehicle dashboard started throwing out all kind of code warnings. Vehicle went into limp mode. Vehicle started on fire. Dealership states the blue def system was at fault. A problem this same dealer fixed just last year. At a cost of over $3000. This time with the fire the bill is over $8000. Not to mention the def system recall from a few years back where these components were suppose to be under an extended warranty. What is a consumer to do. The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH in inclement weather, the power steering assist failed without warning going around a curve. Due to the failure, the contact drove into a ditch which caused minor damages to the front end of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There was no injury sustained. A police report was not filed. The contact used excessive force to steer the vehicle to her destination. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering) which she linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.

My Steering went suddenly stiff making it extermely hard to turn, this resulted to my truck clipping/crashing into the front side of a parked commercial vehicle. My car rolled over and me and my passenger was injured. The truck was inspected and the technicians final conclusion was that the accident took place because the electronic power steering lost communication.

The contact owned a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, her husband experienced a medical emergency causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into a tree. During the incident, the speed at impact was approximately 50 mph. During the crash, the vehicle was destroyed but the driver-side front air bag did not deploy. The husband sustained head trauma, chest trauma, and a lacerated left leg. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 60,000.

I backup a long side a dumpster and put in park, got out and all the sudden my truck started moving backwards and just about ran me over. If I would not have had my door open and got cought on the corner of the dumpster, it would have ran me over. So this event ended up ripping my door off, so I got it replaced out of pocket because I thought it way fault but it happened again after that. But this time I cought it in time. I just would like to see if the problem is being addressed or is it still being investigated.

No suspension resulted in a very bumpy, dangerous immediate driving conditions. Once the drive became bumpy, two hops for every bump in the road. Steering became difficult due to driver instability. Passengers became sick, vomiting due to bumpy ride. Passengers became unstable, hitting head on ceiling even while seat belted.

Got out and the engine was on fire and within a matter of minutes the entire front end was ingulfed in flames. I was driving on the Interstate when a electronic short warning light come on, I pulled over on the shoulder of the road and my engine quit and smoke started to come from the engine. I opened the hood and the engine was on fire. I emptied my cooler, all the bottles of water I had and Cokes and managed to put the fire out with out damage to any thing or any one other than the engine, windshield and hood. Dealer does not want to take responsibility, oil cooler seems to be the source of the fire. Oil sprayed on to the fire blanket on the hood kept burning after the main fire was extinguished. My truck was running fine prier to the fire, I have been waiting for a replacement tone wheel (recall # W58) for 6 months. I have had the EGR (recall #VB1) go out twice and fixed. Numerous electrical tail light shortages.

MY VEHICLE HAS SUFFERED BOTH MAJOR SAFETY RECALLS, ONCE WHERE I WAS WITH MY SON AFTER PICKING HIM UP FROM SCHOOL ON A HIGHWAY THE EGR CANISTER SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTED CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE THAT FCA SAID WAS NOT A MANUFACTURER ISSUE BUT A AFTER MY INSURANCE REPAIRED MY VEHICLE THEY MADE THE RECALL FOR THE FIRES. AFTER 3 WEEKS WITH ME VEHICLE FROM REPAIR THE ENGINE STALLED OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A HIGHWAY, I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THE INSPECTION WAS TOLD THAT THE TONE WHEEL WAS BROKEN AND THAT IT HAD CAUSED DAMAGE THAT WOULD REQUIRE A NEW ENGINE. I PAID CLOSE TO $7,000 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS. A FEW MONTHS LATER FCA ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE TONE WHEEL PROBLEM THE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP WROTE THIS IN HIS NOTES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE'S WHEELS TO UNLOCK AND MOVE ONTO THE FLATBED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER (STEVE WHITE MOTORS 3470 US HWY 70 SE, NEWTON, NC 28658, (828) 464-3458) WHO INFORMED THEM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,238.

THE TRUCK WAS STARTED AND MOVED FROM ONE SIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY AND MOVED TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF AFTER BEING MOVED. ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF IT WAS FOUND ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED AT THAT POINT AND HAD ALSO CAUGHT THE FRONT OF THE GARAGE ON FIRE.
