2018 Ram 2500 Complaints

My 2018 dodge ram has an open recall since December 2024. There are no parts/no fix. My truck has been dinging and pinging with the break light/traction light/engine light/ABS light since 6 months after I got it. ALL of these things are related to the open recall. VIN [XXX]. Manufacturer Recall Number C4B, NHTSA Recall Number24V-896. "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." On Sunday the 19th it stalled along with the warning lights. I took my truck to the dealer and paid $198 in Feb 2023 and they told me nothing was wrong with it. This issues would happen every so often now it's happening frequently almost daily. Customer care refuses to help. They told me to take my truck to a dealer to get it diagnosed and then send the paperwork to them and maybe they'd cover the rental until the part comes in. So now I am paying another $255 for Another diagnostics. It's sitting at Dodge in Glendora, CA right now for 2 days waiting for a call back. I was also told if it's approved, I have to pay for the rental out of pocket. For an eternity? I am not sure why I am jumping through hoops for a safety recall. It' the only car I have to commute and drive my kids in. Once again, a safety recall. This is really absurd. I begged for a manager or someone higher to call me and Ram care refused. Said they'd send my case to rentals. What if my breaks go out, what if I get in a car accident. It feels really unreasonable they won't take responsibility for this ongoing open recall that is a safety issue. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES — Filed 12/01/2024

The recall causes the cruise control to be inoperable, the abs system to be inoperable and causes the warning messages to flash and the audible tone to sound constantly. I am currently unable to utilize the vehicle as intended (towing) because of the braking safety issue.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the part to be available. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part for the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the ABS warning light illuminated, and the alarm activated intermittently. Additionally, the cruise control was inoperable while the warning light was illuminated. The failure was a persistent failure. The dealer was unable to determine when parts would be available. The approximate failure mileage was 106,026.

There was an abnormal dinging sound coming from the vehicle, and the "Service Now" message was displayed. The speedometer was not visible. The contact stated that the cruise control was inoperable. The local dealer was contacted and scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the repair was previously completed in 2024. The manufacturer opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 84,090.

The contact stated that the message "Service ABS" was intermittently displayed. Two dealers were contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

SERVICE BRAKES — Filed 07/13/2026

The Ram ABS Brake recall is over 2 years old. My dash abs lights and alarm continually are alarming. When they alarm the cruise control quits working too. The manufacturer cannot tell me when the parts will be available. They say it is safe to drive but the recall says accidents could occur. I cannot get rid of this unsafe truck because the resale value stinks due to the recall. What do 317,000 owners do?

The contact stated that occasionally while her husband was driving at various speeds, the ABS warning light illuminated, and an alarm sounded. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I received this safety recall in late 2024 (it is currently July 2026). I have made numerous calls to local dealerships and have called the manufacturer's customer service line. I have been told during these calls that parts are not available to repair my vehicle. Considering the safety recall notices I received in the mail states in bolded text that "the loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning", the time this has been left unrepaired seems unreasonable. I am appealing to the NHTSA to take action to advocate for highway safety by requiring the parts necessary for satisfaction of this recall be made available in a reasonable timeframe. Thank you.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. While driving at various speeds, the brake pedal vibrated, and the vehicle decelerated without the brake pedal being depressed. The vehicle was taken back to the private dealer where the vehicle was purchased and was diagnosed and determined that the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that there was an updated HCU and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 126,800.
