BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2024 Defender, Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The Near Field Sensing Module (NFSM) may overheat and cause the 3D surround camera images, including the rearview camera image, not to display.
Consequence
A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Full campaign recordRemedy
Dealers will replace the NFSM, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 24, 2024. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N927.

How this compares
At 20 MPG combined, the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport ranks 4th of 4 small SUVs (4WD) EPA rated for 2024 — 1.5 MPG short of the 21.5 MPG median for that group.
That places it among the thirstiest vehicles in its class. If annual mileage is high, the running-cost gap against a class-average rival compounds quickly.
EPA puts annual fuel spend at about $3,800, $275 more than the $3,525 typical for the class. Over five years at 15,000 miles a year that is roughly $19,000, a $1,375 difference against a class-median vehicle.
Tailpipe CO₂ is 437 grams per mile — about 6.6 metric tons over 15,000 miles of driving.
Consumer complaints
No owner complaints filed with NHTSA for this model year.
