How this compares

At 27.7 MPGe combined, the 2024 Tesla Model S ranks 3rd of 5 large cars EPA rated for 2024 — exactly the 27.7 MPGe median for that group.

That places it a little below the middle of its class. If annual mileage is high, the running-cost gap against a class-average rival compounds quickly.

EPA puts annual fuel spend at about $600, $1,700 less than the $2,300 typical for the class. Over five years at 15,000 miles a year that is roughly $3,000, a $8,500 difference against a class-median vehicle.

Consumer complaints

No owner complaints filed with NHTSA for this model year.

Nothing on file. Newer model years often have few complaints simply because fewer cars are on the road yet.
